Cinnamon Raisin Bread

I love a good cinnamon raisin bread ! There’s nothing like cutting into a warm loaf(braid) of bread straight out of the oven smearing some butter all over it and then immediately devouring it! This braided cinnamon raisin bread paired with the sticky glaze was no exception and lucky for us it’s so simple to make.

[ingredients title=”Ingredients”]

  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 packet yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 Tbsp oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup moist raisins
  • 2 Tbsp softened butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp milk

  2. Add warm milk followed by oil and egg
  3. Beat for about 2 minutes until well mixed
  4. Stir in raisins and add a little more flour to form dough
  5. On a floured surface knead dough until smooth
  6. Cover dough and let it rest for 10 minutes
  7. In the meantime, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and combine brown sugar & cinnamon in a bowl
  8. Roll dough into 9 x 12-inch rectangle and then cut into three 3 x 12-inch strips
  9. Spread butter on each strip and sprinkle the sugar mixture over each one
  10. Pinch the edges of each strip together to form “ropes”
  11. Form braid and let it rest for 1hr covered
  12. Mix yolk and water to make egg wash and brush braid
  13. Bake in preheated oven at 375° F for 25 minutes
  14. Let rest 10 minutes and top with glaze (icing sugar and milk)
